Turkey confirms 72 virus-related deaths, 1,767 infections

ANKARA, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- At least 72 persons died of COVID-19 and 1,767 others tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said Wednesday.
These new figures raised the death toll and overall infections to 7,711 and 308,069 respectively, Turkey's Anadolu Agency quoted Koca as saying in a press conference.
The number of recoveries rose by 1,027 to 270,723, he added, noting that 112,102 medical tests were conducted in 24 hours, raising the total number to about 9.6 million.
Meanwhile, Greece affirmed that COVID-19 cases grew by 358 to 16,286 over the past 24 hours.
Virus-related deaths increased by five to 357, ANA-MPA quoted health authorities as saying. (end) rs.hb
