WASHINGTON, Sept 20 (KUNA) - US President Donald Trump's order to ban Chinese-owned video app TikTok will be put on hold for one week, the US Commerce Department said on Sunday.
The order will be delayed until September 27 at 11:59 pm local time to allow TikTok owner ByteDance, Oracle and Walmart to finalize a deal for a new company called TikTok Global to be in charge of the popular platform's US operations, said a Commerce Department statement.
US officials are concerned that information on the popular platform's users could be shared with the Chinese government, prompting Trump to issue an order to ban the app from the US. (end)
