Sudan sovereign council chief embarks on UAE visit

KHARTOUM, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- Sudan's sovereign council said its head General Abdelfattah Al-Burhan headed to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday for high-level talks over regional developments.
Amid his two-day talks with UAE leaders, Burhan, accompanied by a senior delegation, plans to convince US officials currently in the UAE to remove Khartoum from a list of countries deemed sponsors of terrorism by Washington, making it eligible for debt relief and financing from major lenders.
The council would split into two groups for separate talks with UAE and US officials, with the latter being headed by Justice Minister Nasreldin Abdelbari, read a council statement carried by KUNA. (end) mam.nam
