Russia committed to maintain nuclear deal with Iran

MOSCOW, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- Russia said it will continue efforts to maintain the nuclear deal with Iran, calling the US' move to reimpose sanctions "illegal." United Nations Security Council's (UNSC) resolution 2231 is still fully in effect and all parties must commit to it regarding the nuclear deal, Russia's foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
It called on Washington to avoid escalating the situation and terminating efforts to abide by the deal. It also said that the US claimed that the re-imposing of sanctions was issued by UNSC, which was a false claim.
The ministry added that Washington continuously threatens to impose sanctions on countries that refuse to commit to the sanctions on Iran. (end) as.ag
