KUWAIT, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- An award given to His Highness the Amir by US President Donald Trump is the most "prestigious" decoration bestowed by an American leader, Washington's ambassador to Kuwait Alina Romanowski said on Saturday.
The US appreciates His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah's "profound contributions" towards global diplomacy, the envoy told reporters on the sidelines of a local environmental cleanup drive, a day after Trump dedicated the US Legion of Merit, Degree Chief Commander, to His Highness the Amir.
Citing "all-encompassing" bilateral relations, she said the award given to His Highness the Amir was an acknowledgement of his "significant presence" in the region, in addition to an emblem of Washington's "enduring" ties with Kuwait.
Describing the award bestowed upon His Highness the Amir as a "rare and prestigious," decoration, the White House said it was the first time it had been given in three decades. (end) mrf.nam
