ANKARA, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- Two people have been confirmed dead as a rare hurricane-esque storm hit central Greece on Saturday, flooding streets and inundating thousands of homes, authorities said.
The bodies of a 36-year old man and an elderly woman were found amid the destruction wrought by Storm Ianos, which left uprooted trees and power outages in its wake, according to state news agency ANA-MPA.
Rescue operations are ongoing to find any survivors, fire brigade officials said, adding they received more than 2,450 calls for assistance since the storm made landfall on Friday. (end)
