KUNA chief commends Kuwait Amir's humanitarian, diplomatic feats

KUWAIT, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- KUNA Board Chairman and Director-General Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah Friday lauded His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's humanitarian and diplomatic efforts, political experience and administrative shrewdness, which have all earned him international awards.
Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij made the remark after US President Donald Trump earlier Friday awarded the Legion of Merit, Degree Chief Commander, to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He added that this award, which was last honored in 1991, confirms His Highness the Amir's leading international status and is an addition to the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as a Humanitarian Leader, along with awarding Kuwait as a Humanitarian Hub, thanks to Sheikh Sabah's humanitarian efforts worldwide.
His Highness the Amir's unique efforts had earned him an international recognition and respect for a unique figure that has made great political, diplomatic and constructive contributions due to his highly elevated transparency in all domains, he said.
He wished His Highness the Amir recovery, good health and return to his nation so that he could continue his national development efforts.
The State of Kuwait has gained this great global position thanks to His Highness the Amir's great efforts and distinguished diplomacy, the KUNA chief pointed out.
He regarded the US honoring of His Highness the Amir as the fruit of his great efforts to build the bridges of cooperation with different world countries.
The fresh US awarding coincided with the sixth anniversary of the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as a Humanitarian Leader, Sheikh Mubarak added.
In this context, he pointed out Kuwait's numerous initiatives to different world countries under His Highness the Amir's shrewd steering, stressing that the world would remember him as one of the few world leaders that have devoted themselves to serving humanity, helping the needy and backing cooperation efforts.
US President Donald Trump earlier Friday awarded the Legion of Merit, Degree Chief Commander, to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the White House announced.
"A leader in the Middle East for decades, (HH) the Amir has been a truly unwavering friend and partner to the United States," the White House said in a statement.
It added that His Highness the Amir "provided indispensable support to the United States throughout Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and the Defeat-(IS) campaign." (end) tab.mt
