French Finance Minister tests positive for COVID-19

PARIS, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- France's Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire has tested positive for COVID-19 and has gone into self-isolation, the minister himself announced Friday on Twitter.
The 51-year-old said that he had "no symptoms" and that he was working from home for the next seven days.
Le Maire is a close advisor to President Emmaunel Macron and participates actively in government meetings.
A tracing of his recent contacts and testing of these is standard protocol in this situation.
The Finance Minister is the most senior government member to be declared infected with COVID-19.
France is currently undergoing an upsurge in the virus with 13,215 cases reported Friday and more than 31,200 deaths since March. (end) jk.ibi
