Switzerland Covid-19 cases up by 488 to 49,283

GENEVA, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- Switzerland said its daily confirmed coronavirus case tally climbed by 488 to 49,283 on Friday.
Three fatalities were registered as the death toll rose to 1,765, according to the Federal Office of Public Health.
Government figures also showed that the number of people being hospitalised has reached 4,742.
Swiss authorities have attributed the rising numbers to the recent loosening of coronavirus restrictions and the reopening of borders with other European Union nations.
A quarantine imposed on arriving travellers from countries labelled as "high risk" has become mandatory as the government attempts to control the spread of the pandemic. (end) ta.sd
