Kuwaiti airlift supporting Lebanon continues for ninth consecutive day

BEIRUT, Aug 13 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti airlift continued Thursday for providing relief and humanitarian needs to Lebanon for the ninth consecutive day, with the arrival of the 14th aircraft of the Kuwait Air Force loaded with 45 tons of food following the explosion in Beirut port last week.
In a statement to KUNA, Abdullah Al-Shaheen, a counselor at the Kuwaiti embassy in Lebanon, said the relief aid came upon the directives of His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He added that airplane No. 14 was unloaded with 45 tons of food supplies, as the total needs provided by Kuwait reached about 650 tons.
On his part, the representative of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander, Brigadier General Suhail Najm said in a similar statement to KUNA that on behalf of the Commander of the Lebanese Army General Joseph Aoun, he expresses thanks and gratitude to Kuwait for supporting Lebanon.
The aid provided by Kuwait varied between medical equipment, and medical and food supplies. (end) kbs.lr
