Unpreceded hike in Covid-19 cases since last May in Germany

BERLIN, Aug 12 (KUNA) -- The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) - the public health institute in Germany - Wednesday announced an unpreceded hike in the daily infections of Coronavirus (Covid-19) since May.
PKI said in a press statement that hospitals all over the German states registered 1,226 infections, which is an unpreceded hike in cases since May 9 to increase total cases to 218,519 cases.
The country reported six deaths to reach a total of 9,297, as the pandemic map of the country kept showing either in green or yellow, excluding Landau region in southern State of Bavaria South.
The specialized authorities started few week ago issuing warnings as they monitored a gradual increase in the daily infections, after borders with neighboring countries were reopened and tourists spent their summer vacation in various parts of Germany. (end) anj.lb
