Magnitude 5.1 quake jolts W. Iran

TEHRAN, Aug 9 (KUNA) -- An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Iranآ’s western province of Kermanshah near the border with Iraq on Sunday, resulting in minimal property damage, authorities said.
The quake hit the Gilan-e Gharb county in the province at around 1:46 pm local time, according to the earthquake detection center, adding that aftershocks were felt in adjacent cities as well.
Life is continuing as normal in the city in the wake of the tremor, it added.
Crisscrossed by major fault lines, Iran is among the most earthquake-prone countries in the world. (end) mw.nam
