UAE confirms 225 more Covid-19 cases

ABU DHABI, Aug 9 (KUNA) -- The UAE Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that 225 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) over the last 24 hours.
The latest figures bring this Gulf country's overall count of confirmed infections with the infectious respiratory illness to 62,525 so far, the ministry said in a press statement.
It also confirmed that a single fatality due to the viral disease, taking the UAE's death toll up to 357, according to the statement, carried by the country's official news agenc (WAM).
The latest cases were confirmed as more than 61,000 new Covid-19 swab tests were conducted for citizens and residents, using sophisticated testing devices, it added, it said.
A total of 323 more patients also recovered from the deadly virus, raising the country's total count of recoveries to 56,568, it said. (end) bsu.mt
