Germany: one death, 555 new cases of COVID-19

BERLIN, Aug 9 (KUNA) -- German health authorities reported on Sunday one death and 555 positive infections from Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours.
President of Robert Koch Institute (RKI) Prof. Dr. Lothar Wieler said in a press statement that the country's total cases rose to 215,891, while the total death toll rose to 9,196.
The daily numbers of cases had risen in the past three days to more than a 1,000 noting that some health ministries in some German states do not present new figures at the weekend, which means that the daily figures may be greater than the number provided by the institute.
The German authorities warns of a second wave of the virus due to the return of tourists from their summer vacations which they spent in countries witnessing the epidemic. (end) anj.gaa
