KUWAIT, Aug 6 (KUNA) -- The US recorded over 52,000 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours whereas Brazil's new cases topped 57,000.
The US recorded 52,810 new coronavirus cases and 1,388 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The tally showed that the confirmed cases nationwide reached at least 4,823,890 and 158,250 reported deaths.
Meanwhile, Brazil's health ministry recorded 57,152 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total cases to 2,859,073.
The ministry also reported 1,437 new deaths as the country's total death toll reached at least 97,256.
The US and Brazil rank first and second globally in the number of confirmed cases and deaths. (end)
