Beirut blast's casualties climb to 137 deaths, around 5,000 injuries

BEIRUT, Aug 5 (KUNA) -- Casualties from the Beirut blast, which occurred Tuesday, reached 137 deaths and around 5,000 injuries, said Health Ministry of Lebanon Thursday.
The Ministry's spokesman Redha Mousawi said that the numbers were likely to increase as the search continues for missing individuals.
In reaction to the explosion, the supreme council for defense announced a state of emergency until August 18.
According to Beirut Governorate, the damages caused by the blast are estimated at USD 10 to 15 billion. (end) ayb.gta
