Kuwait's June crude oil exports to Japan down 1.9 pct

TOKYO, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's crude oil exports to Japan fell 1.9 percent in June from a year earlier to 6.34 million barrels, or 212,000 barrels per day (bpd), for the third straight month of decline, government data showed.
As Japan's third-biggest oil provider, Kuwait supplied 11.1 percent of its total crude imports, compared with 7.8 percent in the same month of last year, the Japanese Natural Resources and Energy Agency said in a preliminary report.
Japan's overall imports of crude oil in June plunged 31.2 percent year-on-year to 1.91 million bpd, down for the sixth month in a row.
Shipments from the Middle East accounted for 95.2 percent of the total, up 8.2 percentage points from the year before.
Saudi Arabia remained Japan's No.1 oil supplier, but imports from the kingdom shrank 18.1 percent from a year earlier to 761,000 bpd, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 671,000 bpd, down 28.9 percent.
Qatar ranked fourth with 159,000 bpd and Vietnam fifth with 30,000 bpd, respectively.
Japan is the world's-third biggest oil consumer after China and the US. (end) mk.sd
