Iran, UAE FMs discuss developing cooperation in various areas

TEHRAN, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Sunday expressed their readiness to promote bilateral cooperation in different fields to serve their common interests.
The two ministers discussed, in video conference, regional issues of common concern, Iran's news agency (IRNA) said.
Others may make use of the current situation to destabilize the region, but "we as neighbors" should focus on promoting stability in the region, Zarif said.
On Twitter, Zarif wrote: "Just had a very substantive, frank and friendly video conversation with UAE FM, discussing COVID as well as bilateral, regional and global situations.
"We agreed to continue dialog on theme of hope, especially as region faces tough challenges, and tougher choices ahead," he added.
Meanwhile, Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the necessity of boosting cooperation between Iran and the UAE in the region, continuing consultations and changing challenges to available opportunities to the two countries. (end) mw.hm
