Italy: eight deaths, 238 new COVID-19 cases

ROME, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- Italy's Health Ministry announced Sunday that eight patients succumbed to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, with 238 new infections, bringing the total to 248,000 confirmed cases.
The death toll amounted to 35,154 so far, while 750 are still receiving treatment and 42 are in the ICU, the ministry said in a press statement.
It pointed out that 231 patients recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total to 200,460 recovered cases. (end) mn.hs
