China: No local deaths or infections but eight Covid-19 cases from abroad

KUWAIT, July 13 (KUNA) -- The Chinese authorities announced Monday that no deaths or infections from the Coronavirus, Covid 19, were recorded in the mainland, but eight incoming cases were registered during the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of infections on the Chinese mainland to 83,602 people, and the total number of deaths at 4,634 people, according to the Xinhua news agency, quoting the National Health Committee (NHC).
It added that no cases of local infection, especially in the capital city of Beijing, had been registered for the seventh consecutive day, nor had any cases been recorded in (Hubei) Province and its capital Wuhan, the epicenter of the virus outbreak.
Eight "incoming" infections have been recorded from travelers coming to China, four of them from self-ruled Inner Mongolia, two cases in Guangdong Province, and one case in Shanghai and Shandong, bringing the total cases of infection from abroad to 1979, Xinhua said.
It explained that 14 people have left the hospitals during the past 24 hours after their recovery, bringing the total number of people who have recovered until now to 78,648, while 320 people are still receiving treatment.
Regarding cases outside the mainland, the NHC recorded 1469 confirmed cases as of the end of Sunday, including seven deaths in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and 46 cases in the Macao Special Administrative Region, while Taiwan witnessed 451 cases and seven deaths.
NHC said 1,214 patients in Hong Kong, 45 in Macao and 438 in Taiwan have recovered. (end) mab.nhq
