India registers 500 deaths due to COVID-19, positive cases stand at 28,701

NEW DELHI, July 13 (KUNA) -- Indian authorities said on Monday 500 people died in the last 24 hours as they were infected by the coronavirus and 28,701 new cases were reported from different parts of the country.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest update that the death toll due to COVID-19 in the country rose to 23,174 cases while the overall registered positive cases jumped to 878,254.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, New Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, Assam and Bihar are among the worst affected Indian states.
The government has asked people, governments and local authorities to take all necessary precautions as the nation entered into the second phase of unlocking, adding guidelines in the containment zones should be followed strictly. (end) atk.bs
