Algeria: 10 succumb to infection with COVID-19

ALGIERS, July 9 (KUNA) -- Algerian Health Ministry on Thursday declared recording 10 new COVID-19-caused fatalities and 460 infections, taking the death toll to 988 and contamination cases to 17,808.
The pandemic continues to spread vigorously among Algerians for many have been oblivious to the health directions, said Dr. Jamal Furar, spokesperson for COVID-19 Monitoring and Follow-up Committee, at a news conference.
He said 460 new cases were reocrded today in up to 38 districts, with the tally soaring to 17,808, covering 48 districts.
Dr. Furar said whole count of the deaths reached 988, also reporting 308 new recovery cases, adding that the whole number of discharged patients reached 12,637, including 53 critical cases in intensive care wards. (end) mr.rk
