KUWAIT, July 9 (KUNA) -- The US recorded over 58,000 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours whereas over 44,000 new cases were recorded in Brazil.
According to Johns Hopkins University, up to 58,601 new cases were recorded in the US and 820 deaths.
This brings the total confirmed cases nationwide to 3,054,699 and at least 132,300 deaths.
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Brazil surpassed 1.7 million as 44,571 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
This brings the country's total number of confirmed cases to 1,713,160, according to the Brazil's health ministry.
Also, 1,223 coronavirus deaths new were reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's death toll to 67,964.
According to Johns Hopkins University, Latin American and Caribbean countries have reached over three million coronavirus cases. (end)
