GCC chief commends Arab solidarity with Palestine

RIYADH, July 8 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf on Wednesday lauded the supportive stance expressed by the Arab foreign ministers council towards Palestinians in the face of the Israeli design to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.
The virtual meeting, convened yesterday under a Jordanian invitation, stated unequivocal rejection of the Israeli plan on the grounds that it violates the rules of international laws and undermines the two-state solution, Dr. Al-Hajraf said in a press release.
"In a post-event declaration, the council warned that the Israeli design risks undermining the fundamental of the Middle East peace process and the international efforts to stabilize the region," he pointed out.
Dr. Al-Hajraf reiterated the call for international pressures on Israel to force the Jewish country into budging from the decision and abiding by the principles of international laws and peace.
"The GCC maintains that Palestine is an issue for the entire Arab and Muslim nations and stands by the Palestinian people in their struggle for establishing a sovereign state within the borders of pre-June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital," he added. (end) mdm.gb
