Turkey reports 19 virus-related deaths, 1,053 cases

KUWAIT, July 7 (KUNA) -- The Turkish health authorities registered 1,053 new infection cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) over the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 207,897.
The country's death toll from the pandemic rose to 5,260, with 19 new fatalities, Turkey's Anadolu Agency (AA) reported on Tuesday, citing a statement posted by Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca to his Twitter account.
As many as 2,297 people have recovered from the illness over the past 24 hour, Koca said, noting that the overall recoveries now climbed to 185,292.
There has been an average of seven percent fewer new cases over the last three days in five provinces that saw an increase in the number of cases, the minister pointed out.
The number of active cases is fewer than 17,350 in the country, he said, adding that the overall count of Covid-19 tests rose to some 3.73 million with over 50,500 new tests conducted on Monday. (end) rs.gb
