PARIS, July 7 (KUNA) -- The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Egypt and Jordan jointly affirmed on Tuesday that Israel's planned annexation of more lands of the 1967 occupied territories would be tantamount to breaching the international law and threatening the "peace process." The French foreign affairs ministry said the minsters held a meeting to discuss developments concerning the Palestinian cause and "current status of the peace process." It quoted the ministers as jointly affirming that their nations would not recognize any changes to the 1967 borders' status without a consensus between the two parties of the strife.
Israel's plans to merge new territories will lead to dire consequences that will affect the region security and stability and will constitute a major obstacle in the face of eforts to attain comprehensive and just peace in the region, they stressed.
The ministers of the Mideast issue stakeholders re-affirmed the adamant commitment to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two states' option; through negotiations and according to the international law and the relevant UN resolutions. (end) mjz.rk
