Chinese, Arab FMs reject Israeli plan to annex Palestinian land

AMMAN, July 6 (KUNA) -- China-Arab States Cooperation Forum stressed on Monday the rejection of China and all Arab countries Israel's plans to annex parts of the occupied Palestinian West Bank.
This came in Amman declaration of the ninth session of the ministerial meeting, co-chaired by Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit and some Arab foreign ministers, including Kuwait's, joined the virtual meeting.
Implementing Israel's annexation plans is 'a dangerous escalation and aggressive practices of the occupation's policies, and a violation of the rights of the Palestinian people', the declaration said.
It stressed the importance of preserving international peace and security, the UN Charter, international law and relevant decisions so as to prevent the Israeli plans in this matter.
The declaration reiterated that China and the Arab States agreed to continue coordination in order to back the Palestinian cause and the inalienable rights of Palestinians, including the right to self-determination and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
They also stressed the right of return and compensation provided to Palestinian refugees in accordance with the UN General Assembly Resolution No. 194.
It further affirmed the 'rejection and nullification' of all practices and policies seeking to change the legal and historical status of the occupied East Jerusalem, mainly the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the demographic structure and the Arab cultural identity, including establishing diplomatic missions in the City of Jerusalem.
The statement conveyed the participants' welcome of the UN General Assembly resolution on extending the mandate of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) for three years and their "deep concern" at the same time about the agency's financial deficit.
On China-Arab ties, the statement stressed the importance of promoting the strategic partnership ties between the two sides based on joint development and comprehensive cooperation for a better future so as to achieve joint benefits and development.
It referred to an agreement on holding an Arab-Chinese summit to be hosted by Saudi Arabia later on to push the strategic partnership to broader horizons.
They conferees extolled President Xi Jinping's "Belt and Road" Initiative.
On international and regional issues, the statement affirmed the importance of concerted efforts so as to find political solutions to regional issues and crises in accordance with the international legitimacy's resolutions and relevant agreements and deals.
It also reiterated the unity and territorial integrity of Arab countries mainly Syria, Libya, Yemen, and the rejection of foreign interference in their affairs as well as promote efforts of political solutions to these issues and crises.
In addition, it stressed Arab countries' support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China, and the efforts by the Chinese government to maintain its national security.
It rejected interfering in China's internal affairs, stressing the importance of strengthening Arab-Chinese cooperation in various fields.
At the end of the gathering, the 2020-2022 executive program of the forum was approved.
The participants agreed on holding the 10th session of the ministerial meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum in China in 2022. (end) amm.mjb.hm
