Qatar to enter phase II of easing of lockdown Wed.

DOHA, June 28 (KUNA) -- Qatar's Supreme Committee for Crisis Management said the country will move to the second phase of gradual easing of coronavirus lockdown on Wednesday, July 1.
Based on public health data and indicators of the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), the public gatherings, businesses and mosques will reopen at limited occupancies, the committee said in a press release on Sunday. The numbers of persons allowed to gather in public or private places were brought down from ten in the first phase to five in the second one after the detection of surge in infection cases due to family visits and gatherings of expatriates, it noted.
The second phase of reopening will be in strict compliance with the preventive measures and social distancing, the statement said, warning that any violators will be liable to legal measures.
Public and private sector companies will be allowed to expand their respective operating workforce to 50 percent.
Regarding leisure sailing, only 10 persons can be allowed on board of a rented yacht.
Public parks, beaches, corniches will reopen for the public from all age categories.
Similarly, restaurants, libraries and museums will reopen at limited occupancies and limited times.
Sport facilities will remain closed but training at outdoor areas or big halls will be allowed for ten professionals at most at one time.
Private clinics will be allowed to increase their occupancies to 60 percent, the statement added, reminding the public of the need to cooperate with the heath authorities to stem the tide of the pandemic. (end) nnd.gb
