US Nat'l Guard deploys over 41,000 forces to deal with unrest

WASHINGTON, June 5 (KUNA) - UN National Guard said Friday it deployed more than 41,000 forces in over 30 States to help local troops deal with unrest that broke out after killing of George Floyd, an African-American, by a policeman in the State of Minnesota.
"Governors in 33 states and the District of Columbia have activated more than 41,500 National Guard members to assist state and local law enforcement in support of civil unrest operations," the National Guard said in a statement.
It added that in Washington D.C. only, there were currently 5,100 National Guards.
Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser renamed the street in front of the White House to "Black Lives Matter Plaza" on Friday and emblazoned the slogan in massive yellow letters on the road, a pointed salvo in her escalating dispute with President Donald Trump over control of D.C. streets.
Browser, this morning, requested Trump remove all federal law enforcement and military presence from the capital. (end) asj.bs
