Health authorities worldwide report new COVID-19 infections, fatalities

KUWAIT, June 5 (KUNA) -- Health authorities in several countries on Friday reported new coronavirus infections and deaths in the last 24 hours.
In Bahrain, the health ministry confirmed 437 new COVID-19 infections and one death.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the total deaths in the country surged to 22.
Meantime, in Oman, the health ministry affirmed 770 new coronavirus infections, taking the total to 15,086.
The Omani News Agency quoted the ministry as saying that the recovery cases in the country reached 3,451, while deaths 72.
In Iran, the health ministry said that 2,886 people tested positive for the virus during the last hours.
The Ministry's Media Centre Chief, Kianush Jahanpur affirmed that the total number of infections climbed to 167,156.
He added that 63 new death cases were recorded, taking the death toll to 8,134.
In Lebanon, the health ministry confirmed six new infections to reach 1,312 cases since the outbreak of the virus in the country, adding that the deaths due to the virus settled at 28.
The ministry noted that 768 recovery cases were registered during the past 24 hours. (end) kbs.ma.hmd.aa
