NEW DELHI, June 5 (KUNA) -- Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday that 273 lives were lost due to COVID-19 while the number of positive cases in one day rose to 9,851 people.
The health ministry said in its latest update that COVID-19 has claimed 6,348 lives so far while the total number of positive cases jumbed to 226,770 and 109,462 people recovered so far.
Maharashtra, New Delhi, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are the worst hit Indian states as the deadly virus spread to 35 states.
Indian government announced its decision to extend lockdown in containment zones while giving key relaxations in less affected areas. (end)
