China's record of coronavirus deaths remains clean

KUWAIT, June 5 (KUNA) -- Chinese authorities on Friday reported no deaths due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in past 24 hours but declared five new infection cases of persons who had come from abroad.
Chinese news agency, XINHUA, quoted a statement by the Chinese National Commission as saying total number of infections on the Chinese mainland reached 83,027 while the death toll steadied at 4,634.
Eight patients were discharged from hospitals, with the total count of recuperated patients standing at 78,327 since outbreak of the pandemic in the nation late last year.
A total of 66 persons continue to receive treatment and 4,117 have remained under medical observation.
The commission said infections in Hong Kong reached 1,099 including four deaths, in addition to 45 contamination cases in Macao and 443 others in Taiwan -- including seven fatalities.
Meanwhile, the Chinese aviation authority declared it would allow foreign airlines to organize a single flight to China per week as of Monday (June 8).
All passengers must be screened for the virus upon arrival on Chinese territories, it stressed. (end) mab.rk
