COVID-19 cases in India jumps to 207,615

NEW DELHI, June 3 (KUNA) -- Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday that COVID-19 cases have jumped to 207,615 while the death toll touched 5815.
The ministry of health said that there were 8,909 fresh positive cases and 217 new deaths in the last 24 hours due to the corona virus pandemic in India.
The ministry data showed that the number of active cases at present is 101,497 since 100,303 infected people were cured.
Maharashtra is considered the worst hit Indian state with 2,465 deaths and 72,300 positive cases.
New Delhi, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are other Indian states severely affected by the deadly virus. Indian government announced its decision to extend the lockdown in containment zones while giving key relaxations in the less affected areas. (end) atk.mb
