KUWAIT June 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah on Wednesday received a contact from his Irish counterpart Simon Coveney.
During the phone conversation, the Irish minister explained the latest developments of his country's nomination for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council (UNSC) for 2021-2022.
Both ministers tackled the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and joint cooperation between both friendly countries to mitigate the fallout of this pandemic, while stressing the significance of international efforts to curb the virus and to back relevant international organizations.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister thanked and appreciated the Irish authorities for having facilitated the repatriation of Kuwaiti citizens from Ireland, and restated Kuwait's support for Ireland's measures to fight the Covid-19, and hoped that Ireland would overcome the virus crisis.
On his part, the Irish foreign minister spoke highly of all measures being taken by the State of Kuwait to rein in the pandemic.
Also during the phone conversation, the foreign ministers of Kuwait and Ireland discussed close and firm relations between both friendly nations, ways of promoting and developing them in various fields to serve the common interest of both sides, as well as the latest regional and international political developments.
