MOSCOW, June 3 (KUNA) -- Up to 178 people died due to infection with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 8,536 tested positive for bearing the contagious bug in Russia in past 24 hours.
Russian Emergency center said in a statement, on Wednesday, total count of people contaminated with the virus reached 423,277 and fatalities 5,215.
The center added that 8,972 virus-contaminated persons recovered in past 24 hours, raising overall figure of the patients who were pronounced as cured to 195,957.
Russia ranks third among top nations that have borne brunt of the pandemic.
The contagious disease first broke out in central China and later spread to other countries. Europe was labelled the second epicenter of the outbreak and recently Latin America came the third one. (end)
