S. Korea reports 38 new virus cases, total at 11,541

TOKYO, June 2 (KUNA) -- South Korea added 38 new cases of the novel coronavirus, including 36 local infections on Tuesday, bringing the nation's total infections to 11,541, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The death toll due to the virus increased by one to 272, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a press statement.
The daily number of new infections appears to be on a downward trend after it hit a nearly two-month high of 75 on Thursday amid spiking cases tied to the logistics center west of Seoul. But health authorities remain skittish about the possibility that sporadic cases traced to churches in Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area could lead to a potential new wave of mass infections.
