Russia: More than 9,000 new coronavirus infection cases

MOSCOW, June 1 (KUNA) -- Russia declared on Monday recording 9,035 new infection cases with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in past 24 hours raising toll of contaminations with the communicable pathogen to 414,878.
Russian Emergency Center said in a statement on Monday health authorities also recorded 162 deaths, increasing tally of the mortalities with the highly contagious germ to 4,855.
Up to 3,994 patients, meanwhile, have recovered, bringing total figure of such cases to 175,877.
Russia now ranks third among states of the globe with respect of the coronavirus cases.
The virus first broke out in central China, reportedly from some wild animals, late last year, and in a few months, it spread worldwide reaching the United States where number of cases quickly and dramatically soared.
The US is now on top of the list of countries with infection and death cases (approx. 1.8 million infections and 106,000 deaths); followed by Brazil (514,992 cases, 29,000 deaths).
Both the US and Brazil were not among the first countries that had declared widespread infections with the contagion. (end) as.rk
