China: No new deaths with coronavirus, 16 infections

KUWAIT, June 1 (KUNA) -- China on Monday reported no new deaths due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) but affirmed that 16 who came from abroad were infected in past 24 hours.
Chinese news agency, XINHUA, quoted a statement released by the National Health Comsission as saying total number of contaminations with the germ on the Chinese mainland climbed to 83,017 with the death toll remaining at 4,634.
The commission reported 16 infection cases of persons who travelled to the country from abroad, adding that there were no local infection cases in the past 24 hours.
Three persons were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing total number of the recuperated persons to 78,307.
It has added that 76 individuals continue to receive medical care and 4,723 have remained under medical observation after mingling with infected persons -- including 914 who have been relieved of observation.
Moreover, the commission reported 1,084 new cases outside the Chinese mainland until yesterday (Sunday), including four deaths in Hong Kong, 45 in Macao and 442 among them four deaths in Taiwan.
It added that 1,037 patients were discharged from hospital in Hong Kong, 45 in Macao and 23 in Taiwan. (end) mab.rk
