COVID-19 death toll in India rises to 4,531, positive cases 158,333

NEW DELHI, May 28 (KUNA) -- Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Thursday that the death toll due to COVID-19 in the country rose to 4,531, while the number of positive cases soared to 158,333 people.
The Indian Health Ministry said in a statement that there were 194 new deaths taking the total death toll due to the corona pandemic to 4,531 people and one day positive cases were 6,566 as the total number of infections rose to 158,333.
New Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu are among the worst affected Indian states as the deadly virus hit 35 Indian states, it added.
India had recently extended lockdown for the fourth time to curb the spread of deadly coronavirus in the country.
The lockdown shall continue to remain in force until May 31 with several relaxations in the non-affected areas. (end) atk.mt
