PARIS, April 10 (KUNA) -- The French Armed Forces Ministry confirmed Friday that 50 crew members of the country's sole nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Three of the infected sailors were evacuated by helicopter to a military hospital in the southern city of Toulon, the ministry said in a statement.
It pointed out that a medical team has carried out 66 tests on board the flagship aircraft carrier after detecting coronavirus symptoms on several crew members.
The aircraft carrier, which is equipped with its own intensive care facilities, has 1,760 personnel on board.
Till Thursday, the coronavirus deaths in France exceeded 12,210 and the number of infections hit 117,749. (end)
