ROME, April 9 (KUNA) -- Italy said Thursday 610 people died due to the novel coronavirus but the daily infections rate continued to drop coupled with further recoveries.
Angelo Borrelli, head of the National Civil Protection Service, said at his daily press briefing tests over the past 24 hours showed that 1,614 people were infected with the virus to make total infections at 96,877.
He said the number of patients in the intensive care units dropped by 88 cases since yesterday to reach 3,605.
Recovered people increased by around 2,000 to a total of 28,470, while fatalities rose to 18,279. (end)
