Seoul reports 39 new virus cases, fewest since late Feb.

TOKYO, April 9 (KUNA) -- South Korea reported 39 more cases of the novel coronavirus Thursday for its fewest single day increase since late February, bringing the nation's total infections to 10,423, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Death toll from the new coronavirus rose by four to 204, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
Among the 39 new infections, Seoul had 12 cases, while authorities detected 10 new cases coming from overseas at border checkpoints, the public health agency said. It was the first time since February 20 that the daily tally of new infections fell below 40, but health authorities remained on high alert over cluster infections at churches and hospitals, as well as new cases coming from overseas.
Seeking to reduce the daily number of new infections to below 50, South Korea has extended strict guidelines on social distancing by two weeks to April 19.
The country has also implemented two-week quarantines for all passengers coming from abroad since April 1. (end) mk.rk
