DOHA, April 7 (KUNA) -- Qatar said Tuesday it was sending medical assistance to Italy to help the European country contain spread of coronavirus, which claimed lives of 17,127 people and affected over 94,000 others.
Two military transport aircraft will, upon instructions of Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamam Al-Thani, be loaded with two field hospitals and due to arrive in Italy tomorrow, Qatari news agency reported.
The two hospitals will have 1,000-bed capacity combined, said the agency, and they would be fully equipped to treat coronavirus patients.
Two additional military planes will fly to Italy on Thursday carrying medical assistance as well. (end)
