US: 324,052 confirmed coronavirus cases, over 9,000 deaths

WASHINGTON, April 5 (KUNA) -- The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the US reached 324,052 Sunday and over 9,000 deaths as about 96 percent of the people nationwide are under stay at home orders, reports nationwide showed.
In an interview on Fox network, US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams meanwhile warned that "this is going to be the hardest and the saddest week of most Americans' lives.
"This is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment, our 9/11 moment, not only is going to localized. It's going to be happening all over the country," he remarked.
He added "I want Americans to understand that as hard as this week is going to be, there is a light at the end of the tunnel." For his part, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci told CBS network that to say that the US has coronavirus under control "would be a false statement. We are struggling to get it under control," adding "this is going to be a bad week ... we're going to continue to see an escalation.
"We should also hope that within a week, maybe a little more, we'll start to see a flattening out of the curve and coming down," he added.
On Saturday, President Donald Trump told reporters during the coronavirus task force briefing "this will be probably the toughest week between this week and next week, and there will be a lot of death, unfortunately, but a lot less death than if this wasn't done but there will be death."
