New York registers drop in coronavirus deaths - Gov.

NEW YORK, April 5 (KUNA) -- New York State death rate from the coronavirus dropped for the first time since outbreak of the disease, registering 594 cases in the past 24 hours compared with 630 on Saturday, Governor Andrew Cuomo said Sunday.
He told a press briefing total deaths stood at 4,159 compared to 3,565 the previous day.
Cuomo said total confirmed cases exceeded 122,000 people in the State but number of people admitted to hospitals declined.
He said patients in packed hospitals would be transferred to health facilities with less burden.
Cuomo said number of critical cases and people in need of ventilators also dropped, describing it as "good news." The Governor said the US Northern Command would deploy 1,000 medical workers in New York in the coming three days to support State's efforts to fighting the virus. (end) asf.bs
