TEHRAN, April 4 (KUNA) -- The Iranian Ministry of Health on Saturday announced a fresh surge in the number of infections with novel coronavirus (COVID-19), hitting 55,743.
The new jump came as a further 2,560 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, the ministry said in a statement, adding that 158 additional fatalities were confirmed, raising the mortality rate to 3,452.
Out of the overall count, 4,103 patients are in critical situation, while a total of 19,736 sufferers have recovered so far, the ministry added. (end)
