S. Korea reports 86 new virus cases, total tops 10,000

TOKYO, April 3 (KUNA) -- South Korea reported 86 new cases of the novel coronavirus Friday, bringing the nation's total infections to 10,062, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The death toll rose by five to 174, with more than half of fatalities being patients aged 80 or older, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
A total of 42 additional cases were reported in Seoul and the surrounding region that includes Gyeonggi Province and the western port city of Incheon, the public health agency said.
The government has issued a 14-day social distancing advisory, closed schools and tightened quarantine measures against international arrivals in its efforts to contain the virus.
The country has also required all arrivals to self-quarantine for two weeks since Wednesday. Visitors without local addresses are to stay in government-designated facilities at their own expense. (end) mk.gta
