World coronavirus cases pass mLn mark

KUWAIT, April 2 (KUNA) -- The number of confirmed infections with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) worldwide has reportedly passed the one-million mark and the number of related deaths have reached more than 51,000 despite global efforts to flatten contagious disease curve.
The pandemic, which originated in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, has already hit more than 181 countries and territories, which announce deaths and infections on a daily basis.
In Egypt, the health ministry confirmed 86 new coronavirus infection cases and six deaths.
The ministry's spokesperson Dr. Khaled Mejahid in a statement, said the all of the cases related to Egyptian citizens some of them recently came from abroad, noting that the total number of infections reached 865, while deaths amounted 58.
Meanwhile, in Palestine, President Mahmoud Abbas issued a presidential decree to extend the state of emergency in all Palestinian territories for a period of 30 days to cope with the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), relevant authorities will continue to take all necessary measures to confront the risks resulting from the spread of the virus, protect public health, and achieve security and stability.
The health ministry in a statement announced the recovery of three patients, adding that the total number of infections reached 161, while one death case was confirmed.
In Algeria, the health ministry said that the coronavirus death toll climbed to 83 after confirming 20 deaths today.
The ministry noted in a statement that 139 new coronavirus infections were recorded to reach 986.
Furthermore, the Libyan health ministry confirmed a first death case due to the virus, while the infections reached 11.
Meantime, in Moroccan health ministry said that the death toll climbed to 44, while the infections reached 708 after recording 32 new cases. (Pickup previous) aa
