BERLIN, April 2 (KUNA) -- German health authorities on Thursday announced 6,000 additional infections with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in a single day.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in this European country up to 73,522, said Robert Koch Institute in a daily press briefing.
In addition, the death toll of the roaming virus has risen to 872, said the Institute, which is responsible for monitoring and reporting virus cases.
Meanwhile, the German military said 15,000 soldiers are now ready to deploy nationwide in order to make sure that everyone complies with health guidelines and instructions.
The Institute urged citizens in western and southern states, which have been hit the hardest by the virus, to follow relevant guidelines and instructions in order to curb the spread of the swiftly spreading disease. (end)
