Spain's COVID-19 death toll ups 10,000, with 110,000 infections

MADRID, April 2 (KUNA) -- Spain's Ministry of Health on Thursday recorded another 950 fatalities due to the novel coronavirus; a new death record in one day, raising the country's toll to 10,003.
The number of confirmed infections with the COVID-19 in the country, which is second only to Italy in fatalities, have jumped to 110,238, the ministry said in an online press statement.
Out of the overall figure, 54,113 are still receiving necessary medical treatment at hospitals, while a total 26,743 patients been treated and discharged from hospital, it added.
Spanish authorities have already built 16 field hospitals in order to receive the growing number of people infected by this contagious disease, with the World Health Organization (WHO) saying that the epidemic has almost reached a peak in Spain. (end) hnd.mt
